Iraq and Switzerland hold the first round of political consultations

The first round of political consultations between the Republic of Iraq and the Swiss Confederation was held at the Federal Palace of Switzerland in Bern. The Iraqi side was presided over by the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry, Mr Nizar Al-Khairallah, while the Swiss side was presided over by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Middle East and North Africa, Maya Tsavi, with the participation of Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, Henderin Ali Mustafa and the delegation accompanying the Undersecretary.

 The two sides reviewed the most important steps taken by the two countries in developing bilateral relations and ways to enhancing them in various fields, and they discussed the common visions on promoting dialogue, human rights, immigration issues and humanitarian aid, as well as touching upon the current regional issues.

The Senior Undersecretary also met the Swiss State Secretary of the FDFA, Ms Livia Leu, with the presence of the Chargé d’Affairs ad interim, Hendrin Ali Mustafa, and the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Middle East and North Africa, Maya Tsavi. During the meeting, they exchanged views and proposals that help in developing the bilateral relations between Iraq and Switzerland, as well as the regional and international issues.
