Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Baku Celebrates the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Iraqi-Azerbaijani Diplomatic Relations

On 30/3/2022, the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Iraqi-Azerbaijani diplomatic relations, in the Embassy, with the presence of Head of the Department of Governmental Protocol, representing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ramil Rzayev, head of the Committee of Iraqi-Azerbaijani friendship in the Azerbaijani People’s Assembly, Mr Elham Mamdov, ambassadors of Arab countries accredited to Baku, diplomatic, political and academic figures, and Iraqi and local media channels to cover this occasion.

The Chargé d’Affaires, Makki Raysan Al-Maamouri, inaugurated the celebration with a speech in which he welcomed the attendees, confirming Iraq’s pride in this long history of friendship and cooperation with Azerbaijan, as Iraq was at the forefront of the countries that recognized the state of Azerbaijan after its independence on 28/3/1992, stating that the diplomatic relations between Iraq and Azerbaijan are just the culmination of history and values between the two countries.

The Chargé d’Affaires commended the position of the Azerbaijani government supporting the Iraqi government in combating terrorism, stating that both countries look forward to increasing the cooperation in all sectors and the volume of trade exchange, confirming the importance of the Iraqi-Azerbaijani coordination on many regional issues.

On his part, Mr Ramil Rzayev, delivered a speech in which he congratulated the attendees on this occasion, commending the relations between the two countries and their development in all fields, especially the growth of trade exchange between the two countries, as well as the visits of Iraqi delegations to Azerbaijan during the last period, which would enhance the cooperation at all levels between the two friendly countries.
