Iraq invites Somalia to pay off debts and extends an official invitation to Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Finance to Visit Baghdad

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Legal Affairs and Multilateral Relations, Dr Qahtan Taha Khalaf, has met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr Abdi Saeed Musa, on the sidelines of his participation in the 48^th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, which was held in Islamabad.

During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to enhance them, as well as the mechanism for the payment of the debts owed by the Republic of Somalia in favour of Iraq. The Undersecretary invited the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Minister of Finance, to visit Iraq and hold talks with Iraqi officials to agree on the mechanism and timing of payment. The two sides emphasized the exchange of visits between the delegations of the two countries.
