An Luncheon Invitation Hosted by Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in honour of Ambassador Al-Suhail, on the Occasion of the conclusion of Her Work Tasks

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by Ms. Marina Sereni, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted an luncheon invitation at the headquarters of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in honor of the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Italy, Safiya Talib Al-Suhail, in her honour and appreciation of her efforts, on the occasion of the conclusion of her diplomatic mission in Italy at the end of March.

A number of members of the diplomatic corps, led by the Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps, Dr Ahmed bin Salem Baomar, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Sattam, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Inas Makkawi, Head of Mission of the League of Arab States in Rome, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah and spouse of Her Excellency Bakhtiar Amin, former Minister of Human Rights in Iraq, in addition to A number of senior political and diplomatic figures in the Italian arena.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its heartfelt thanks to Her Excellency for the efforts made to enhance the bilateral relations and open new horizons of joint cooperation.

The esteemed ministry also expressed its aspiration to continue working with Ambassador Al-Suhail from her new position at the headquarters of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the embassies of the Republic of Iraq in Rome and the Embassy of the Italian Republic in Baghdad, for the purpose of continuing at the same pace of openness towards new joint cooperation horizons at all levels, with emphasis on holding the joint bilateral meetings on the political consultations and the joint committee of the two countries which will be held in  Baghdad, during the upcoming few months.

Ambassador Al-Suhail extended her thanks and gratitude to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for the great and continuous support during her term as Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Rome, and for hosting a number of bilateral official meetings during the past two years, and for exchanging visits at the highest levels, especially the visit of His Excellency the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister with a large delegation that included six ministers and a number of advisors, in addition to many bilateral meetings that brought together the ministers of foreign affairs, defence, health, education, finance, culture and others.

The Ambassador also commended the role of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the important role of Italy in supporting Iraq and its friendship to the Iraqi people and providing the necessary facilities to overcome some of the difficulties faced by the members of the Iraqi community residing in Italy through cooperation with the Embassy in Rome and the competent Italian institutions.
