Pakistani President Receives Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussain

The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi, has received the Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, and his accompanying delegation, on the sidelines of his participation in the 48th th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which was held in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, where the Minister conveyed the greetings of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr Barham Salih to the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Islamabad, and ways of enhancing them to achieve the interests of the two friendly peoples.

The Minister of Foreign Affairscongratulated the leadership and people of the Republic of Pakistan on the occasion of the Pakistani National Day, touching upon the regional and international relations and the crises they are going through, emphasizing the importance of giving precedence the language of dialogue and finding sustainable peaceful solutions to these crises, addressing their repercussions, and creating a safe international environment to achieve economic growth and people’s well-being, as His Excellency described the Iraqi-Pakistani relations as good ones, expressing Baghdad’s desire to advance them to the level of the aspirations of the two friendly peoples,  confirming the importance of maintaining the momentum of the bilateral relations between the two countries during the past stage, as well as continuing to intensify the political consultation and continuous coordination between them, whether at the bilateral level or in international forums on issues of common interest.

On his part, The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan affirmed the importance of enhancing the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to advance them in various fields to serve the interests of the two friendly countries, and the importance of exchanging visits between officials of the two countries at all levels.

The Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and Multilateral Relations, Dr Qahtan Taha Khalaf, Head of the Department of International Organisations and Conferences, Dr Abbas Kadhem Obaid, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Pakistan, Mr Hamid Abbas Lafta, and the Director of the Islamic Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Counsellor Tamara Mahmoud have attended the meeting.
