Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets the Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister, President of the Institute for International Policies

Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein has met the Assistant Foreign Minister, President of the Institute for International Policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Muhammad Hasan Sheikh, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.  The two sides discussed the overall security and political situation in the region, as well as the progress of negotiations on the nuclear agreement between Iran and the six countries, and its positive repercussions on the security and stability of the region. 

The Foreign Minister affirmed the depth of the bilateral relations between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the many interests that unite the two friendly peoples, stating that Iraq is keen to establish the best relations with all neighbouring countries, especially Iran, considering the current relations between the countries of the world are based on activating common interests, addressing common risks, and enhancing social ties between peoples. 

The two sides also discussed the repercussions of the Ukrainian-Russian crisis on the global economy, and the need for joint efforts to confront the current challenges and work to ensure stability and development in the two neighboring countries. 

On his part, the Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister said that one of the constants of our foreign policy is to support Iraq and stand by it and support it in many fields, and to contribute to the reconstruction of Iraqi cities.
