Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets German Deputy Foreign Minister, and the Latter Extends his thanks to the Iraqi government on steps it has taken to resolve the refugee problem

On 19/2/2022, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met German Deputy Foreign Minister Tobias Lindner, on the sidelines of the 58th Munich Conference on International Security, which was held in the German city of Munich. During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments on the Iraqi arena, most notably the efforts to form the government.

The Minister commended Germany’s supportive stances to Iraq in the political, economic and military fields, stating Iraq’s need for Germany’s support, especially in the economic field, adding that the stability of the region is bound to the stability of Iraq, referring the need for the support from friends, notably Germany, which occupies a special place among Iraqis.

On his part, the German Deputy Foreign Minister commended Iraq’s efforts in combating terrorism, and pointing to Germany’s continuous support on all levels, especially for the democratic political process. He also appreciated Iraq’s role in achieving regional stability through diplomatic efforts aiming at converging views between the countries of the region, thanking the Iraqi government on the steps it has taken to resolve the refugee problem.
