Head of the Department of Human Rights Meets Director of Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission (UNAMI)

The Head of the Department of Human Rights, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr Ali Hilal, has met Ms Danielle Bell, the Director of the Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). During the meeting, they touched upon mechanisms of cooperation between Iraq and the United Nations in the field of enhancing and protecting human rights, implementing joint plans, reviewing the results of the previous meetings and the role of the office in providing the required technical assistance to the Iraqi authorities in terms of human rights file.
They also discussed the Iraqi government’s means to implement its international obligations as Iraq is a State Party to many international human rights treaties, including the preparations of the concerned Iraqi authorities to discuss Iraq’s next report on the Convention against Torture, as well as the Iraqi government’s preparations for the next session of the Human Rights Council, which will include a high-level segment in its first week.
