Minister of Foreign Affairs meets his Turkish counterpart in Belgrade and calls for easing travel restrictions and facilitating granting of entry visas to Iraqis wishing to visit Turkey

The Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met on Monday 11/10/2021, the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mr. Mevlut Cavusoglu, on the sidelines of his participation in the meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Group, and the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the holding of the first conference of the movement, which is currently being held in Belgrade in Serbia.

During the meeting, the progress of bilateral relations between the two countries and the security and political developments in the region were reviewed.

Mr. Husseing briefed on the progress of the electoral process that took place in Iraq on October 10.

He stressed the importance of exchanging visits between officials of both countries to discuss many common issues and forming a joint committee for facilitating granting entry visas to Iraqi citizens wishing to visit Turkey as well as Turkish citizens wishing to visit Iraq and to ease travel restrictions.

For his part, Mr. Cavusoglu congratulated Iraq for the success of the electoral process, expressing his appreciation for Iraq’s initiative to hold Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership for the purpose of reducing political tensions and containing crises in the region
