Senior Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs receives US Ambassador to Iraq and accompanying delegation
The Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nizar Al-Khairallah, received On 28/9/2021 the US Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Matthew Tueller, in the presence of the US Assistant Deputy Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran, Ms. Jennifer Gavito, and a number of US Embassy staff in Baghdad.
During the meeting, they discussed partnership and cooperation relations between Iraq and the United States in various fields, especially with regard to the outcomes of the fourth round of the strategic dialogue between the two countries, which was held in Washington on 23/7/2021, and mechanisms to implement the agreements reached during that round.
They also discussed the preparations and efforts made by the Iraqi government to hold the parliamentary elections on the tenth of next October, and the mechanisms to ensure their success.
They also touched on the political and security developments in the Middle East, ways to enhance partnership and cooperation between the two countries in the economic, higher education and cultural fields, as well as security and military cooperation in the fields of training, arming and providing technical assistance to the Iraqi security forces to confront the security threats posed by ISIS.
