Permanent Representative of Republic of Iraq to United Nations Organizations participates in meeting of heads of regional groups
Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations Organizations in Rome and Head of the Near East and North Africa Group at the FAO, Ambassador Safiya Talib Al-Suhail, attended the virtual meeting of heads of regional groups at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), held with a mixed attendance mechanism, where the heads of the committees attended, with the participation of the vice-presidents and representatives of member states.
This call to the meeting is the first after the partial lifting of the conditional restrictions that accompanied the measures for public safety due to Covid-19.
The meeting was called to by the President of the Independent Council of the ICC, Mr. Hans Hoogeveen, the heads of the presidential committees attended the meeting during which they discussed the outcomes of the Food Systems Summit held in New York on 23/9/2021. In addition to discussing cooperation between the three UN agencies operating in Rome: FAO, WFP, and IFAD.
The Chairman of the Council presented an overview of the agenda of the World Food Day scheduled to be held on 16/10/2021, in addition to discussing a set of other administrative issues related to the working methods of the independent council of the organization and the gradual shift towards reopening the general headquarters of the organization to the member states.
