Senior Undersecretary: Iraq is keen to openness and cooperation with regional, Arab and International neighborhood
The Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Mr. Nizar Al-Khairallah, met on 14/9/2021 the Canadian Ambassador to Baghdad, Mr. Autrek Shannon, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to develop bilateral relations between Iraq and Canada in various aspects of common interest.
The Undersecretary stressed the importance of activating strategic partnership relations with Canada and the contribution of Canadian companies to infrastructure projects in Iraq.
Mr. Al-Khairallah affirmed Iraq’s keenness on openness and cooperation with its regional Arab and International neighboring countries, explaining that Iraq seeks to contribute to efforts to achieve stability and security in the region and in cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries, and that combating ISIS terrorist organization is a primary priority for the Iraqi government.
For his part, Mr. Autrek congratulated Iraq for the great success achieved in the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, stressing his government’s position in supporting Iraq, explaining his country’s readiness to strengthen strategic cooperation relations with Iraq.
Mr. Autrek affirmed the readiness of the Canadian Companies to contribute to infrastructure projects in Iraq, noting that Canadian companies have great experience and efficiency in implementing infrastructure projects in various sectors.
