Foreign Minister Meets Secretary- General of Supreme Council for Iranian National Security

On Tuesday, August 10, 2021, Foreign Minister, H.E. Fuad Hussein met the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Iranian National Security, Mr. Ali Shamkhani.

During the meeting, the strengthening of bilateral relations and joint cooperation between Baghdad and Tehran were discussed.

H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein congratulated Mr. Ali Shamkhani on holding successful presidential elections in Iran, adding that the economic and trade relations between Baghdad and Tehran are at a good level, and we look forward to strengthening comprehensive relations with the new government of Iran, given the large potential existing for cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Mr. Shamkhani stressed during the meeting that the countries of the region are able to maintain security and peace in them without having to any external interference, pointing out the importance of the agreements signed between Tehran and Baghdad, which could be a major step in increasing the level of comprehensive cooperation to achieve the well-being of the peoples of the two countries.
