Iraq Receives Official Invitation to Participate in Tokyo Olympics on June 2021

On 5 April 2021, the Iraqi Chargé d’affaires in Tokyo, Dr. Dhibian Shammam Al-Zubaidi, received H.E. Mr. Ejima Kiyoshi, Japanese Minister of State for Economy, Trade and Industry, at the embassy’s premises.

Mr. Al- Zubaidi received the invitation letter from Mr. Kiyoshi addressed to Iraq to participate in the Tokyo Olympics, which will start on 23 June 2021.

The letter indicated that Japan will do its utmost to ensure the safety of the athletes participating in the Olympics.
The meeting also dealt with a number of issues of common interest, including economic relations between the two countries, prospects for joint cooperation in the field of energy, reconstruction, and the role of Japanese companies in this regard.

The two sides also agreed on mutual coordinating to prepare for an economic virtual workshop between the relevant parties in the two friendly countries, to discuss economic and investment opportunities in Iraq.
