Ambassador of Iraq to Canada Meets with Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and International Development Committee at the Canadian House of Commons
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Canada, Dr. Wadih Bati, met with the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development in the Canadian House of Commons, Mr. Sven Spengemann, on 23 March 2021,
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to develop and strengthen Iraqi-Canadian relations in all fields, especially the parliamentary relations between the Iraqi Parliament and the House of Commons, through activating the Parliamentary Friendship Committee between the two countries and exchanging expertise in a way that enhances the parliamentary work process.
The meeting also included an exchange of ideas with regards to developing economic and cultural relations as well as cooperation between educational institutions to serve the interests of the two countries and benefiting from Canadian capabilities by Iraqi educational staff and students.
Mr. Spengemann expressed his readiness to make every effort to develop relations between the two countries in all fields and that he endears Iraq and its people, as he spent several years working there as part of the United Nations team.
The meeting was attended by the first secretary, Dr. Ali Rasool and the second secretary, Ms. Rabab Al-Shouk, who cover the political and cultural affairs at the embassy.
