Minister of Foreign Affairs and French Ambassador Discuss Cooperation in the fields of economy, Combating terrorism and repercussions of climate change

On Wednesday, 10/11/2021, The Foreign Minister Mr Fuad Hussein received the French Ambassador to Iraq, Mr Eric Chevalier at the headquarters of the Ministry in Baghdad.

During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to enhance prospects of cooperation in all fields to serve the mutual interests of the two peoples, the two countries and the entire region, in addition to developing the economic and commercial cooperation and joint action in responding to the threat of terrorism, combating corruption, and recovering assets, protecting the environment, and coping with the effects of climate change.

They also discussed the developments common in the region of interest, where they emphasized the importance of easing tensions and relying on dialogue in resolving outstanding issues to establish peace in the region being related to the security and stability of Iraq and the return of its pivotal role.

They also discussed the file of the Iraqi migrants stranded on the Belarusian – Polish borders. The Minister confirmed that the Iraqi government had taken effective steps for the return of the citizens wishing to return to Iraq, and there is a possibility to open a flight line from Baghdad or Erbil to Beirut and then to Minsk.
