Ambassador Mohammad Jaafar Al-Sadr Meets the Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defence

The Ambassador Mohammad Jaafar al-Sadr has met the Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defence, Mr. Simon Coveney. During the meeting, they have discussed the political and security relations between Iraq and Ireland. The Ambassador expressed Iraq’s keenness to build strong relations with Ireland, which adopts positions that support the interests of Arabs in Europe, commending the warm reception, which is an indication of Ireland’s desire to strengthen bilateral relations with Iraq, stressing at the same time Iraq’s great desire to benefit from the potential Ireland enjoys in various aspects.

On his part, the Irish Foreign Minister, Mr. Simon, welcomed the Ambassador, stressing Ireland’s interest in strengthening its historic relations with Iraq at various levels, noting that the visit of the Iraqi Ambassador to Ireland constitutes a starting point to build strong relations with Iraq, which is a focus of attention of Ireland, stressing Ireland’s determination to appointing its ambassador in Amman, as a non-resident ambassador in Baghdad, which will give Ireland a greater opportunity to understand the situation in Iraq and to enhance its vision towards building strong relations between the two countries, stressing Ireland’s endeavor to exploit its non-permanent membership in the Security Council, to have a more effective role in Middle East issues.
