Prime Minister of Serbia Congratulates Iraqi Government on successful holding of legislative elections

The Prime Minister of Serbia, Mrs. Ana Brnabić, received the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq, Mr. Fuad Hussein, in her office on October 12, 2021, on the sidelines of his participation in the meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Group and the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the holding of the first conference of the Movement, held in Belgrade, Serbia.

During the meeting, the Minister reviewed of the political developments and transitions in Iraq, as well as the history of relations between the two countries. He also outlined the conduct of the electoral process took place on 10/10/2021.

The Minister expressed his gratitude to the Government of Serbia for its stances towards Iraq, pointing out the importance of the participation of the Serbian companies in the reconstruction of liberated cities and rebuilding the infrastructure destroyed during the wars Iraq has experienced, as well as the crimes of terrorist gangs of ISIS.

For her part, The Prime Minister congratulated the Iraqi Government over the success of the electoral process, wishing Iraq progress and prosperity. She stressed her country’s support for Iraq. The two sides agreed on the need to resume the work of the Iraqi-Serbian joint committee, and the importance of exchanging visits between officials of the two countries.
