Serbian President, Praises the Iraqi-Serbian Relations

President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić on Sunday 10/10/2021 at the presidential palace, received Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein during his participation in the meetings of the Non-Aligned Movement and the celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of its foundation and holding its first conference in Belgrade.

Mr. Vučić welcomed the Minister, referring to the history of relations between Baghdad and Belgrade, stressing his country’s support for the security and sovereignty of Iraq, expressing his appreciation for the sacrifices made by Iraq in the fight against terrorism. He also expressed his country’s readiness to provide support and assistance to Iraq and benefit from expertise in various fields.

The Minister thanked the Serbian President for the warm reception, praising Serbia’s stances supporting Iraq in the international forums and the assistance it provided, referring to the history and depth of Iraqi-Serbian relations, expressing his hope to resume the meetings of the Iraqi-Serbian joint committee, and the contribution of Serbian companies in reconstructing Iraq’s infrastructure that was destroyed due to the wars against terrorism.

 Mr. Hussein stressed Iraq’s desire to Expand areas of cooperation to include agricultural, health, cultural, scientific, economic and oil investments, to strengthen and consolidate bilateral relations.

At the end of the meeting, the Serbian President expressed his wishes for Iraq and its people continued stability and prosperity, affirming his sharing of Iraq’s desire to resume the meetings of the joint committee, and that he would instruct the government to do so due to its importance in strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
