Undersecretary for Political Planning Affairs holds talks with his Turkish counterpart

A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by the Undersecretary for Political Planning Affairs, Dr. Saleh Al-Tamimi, visited the Republic of Turkey to hold talks with their Turkish counterpart, headed by the Undersecretary of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs and Human Resources Mr. Yavus selim Kiran on 8/10/2021.

This meeting came in response to the invitation from the Turkish side, following the meeting that brought together the President of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Barham Salih and his Turkish Counterpart, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the presence of the Iraqi Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, on the sidelines of the recent meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

 The meeting indicated the importance of bilateral relations between the two sides and the need to find radical solutions for the exchange of entry visas, and to complete what was agreed upon during Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s visit to Ankara.

The discussions dealt with consular affairs of their various fields and focus on finding solutions to facilitate granting entry visas to citizens of the two countries, and working to solve the remaining obstacles, whether in obtaining entry visas, residence and study, or any other obstacles.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. AlTimimi invited the Turkish side to visit Baghdad to complete the discussions in this regard and to follow up on the implementation of what was agreed upon.

The Undersecretary and his accompanying delegation also visited the Iraqi Embassy in Ankara and held a meeting with the embassy staff. He met with a number of the Iraqi community visitors from the Consular Section and listened to their views. He directed the provision of possible facilities and ways to develop the consular work to service the public interest.
