Iraq and Japan discuss New Ways to Cooperate in Field of Renewable Energy and Oil Industries

On 15/9/2021, a virtual business and economic seminar between Iraq and Japan was held in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the participation of the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Nizar Al-Khairallah, and the Head of the Asia and Australia Department, Ambassador Dr. Ali Yassin Mohammed Karim, and a number of general managers in the Ministries of Oil and Electricity, the National Investment Commission, and the Iraqi Embassy in Tokyo, and from the Japanese side, the Undersecretary of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and representatives of the Japan Inter-State Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Japan Investment and Export Credit Guarantee Agency, as well as representatives of more than (300) Japanese companies, and the Japanese Embassy in Baghdad.

 The work of the seminar focused on discussing new ways to cooperate with Iraq in the field of renewable energy and oil industries, and the possibility of Japanese companies participating in their implementation, where the representatives of the ministries and the Iraqi National Investment Commission presented comprehensive presentations of the Iraqi government’s plans to develop the energy sectors in Iraq in line with the global development of the optimal use of clean energy such as hydrogen and ammonia, ensuring a broader participation of Japanese companies in these important sectors.
