Foreign Minister: We are pleased to cooperate with Pakistani side and wish to increase horizons of cooperation in all fields

The Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met on Thursday; 12/8/2021 the Pakistani Minister of Military Production, Mrs. Zubaida Jalal. The Minister affirmed the Iraqi government’s desire to increase the prospects for cooperation in all fields of defense, tourism, religious, cultural, health, technical and others, and to benefit from the expertise of both military institutions, in developing the capabilities of the Iraqi armed forces.

Mr. Hussein indicated his concern about the security crisis in Afghanistan and its affects Iraq, Pakistan and all the countries of the region. He spoke about the humanitarian aspects and the sanctity of blood and migrants due to armed conflicts. He stated that the events in the past decades negatively affected the security situation in Iraq, Pakistan and the Middle East and even on the west.

The Minister pointed out that the Corona virus and terrorism are global and local crises, as they are spread throughout the world and affect all humanity in the world.

He stressed his keenness to have a twinning between Basra and Karachi, between the port of Al-Faw and the port of Gwader, as they have an important future by linking Asia with Europe. Pointing out that the early elections will be held on time to enhance the democratic process and the participation of all Iraqis in it.

For her part, Mrs. Jalal welcomed these remarks, stressing that there are many projects prepared to work on in Iraq. She stressed that there are memoranda of understanding in the defense and military fields will be signed during the coming period, and indicated that Pakistan strongly supports Iraq in facing security challenges, as well as Iraq’s unity. Noting that there are serious talks with the Iraqi Ministry of defense regarding military cooperation. She also indicated the desire of the Pakistan side to activate a direct flight line between the two countries.
