Ambassador of Republic of Iraq to Cairo meets President of Egyptian Senate

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Cairo and its permanent representative to the Arab League, metDr. Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi, President of the Egyptian Senate (Shura Council), Counselor Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razzaq. 

At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Al-Dulaimi conveyed the greetings of the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mr. Muhammed Al-Halbousi, and the greetings of the Prime Minister Mr. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.

The two sides discussed ways to develop relations between the two countries in all fields and push them to broader horizons, reviewing, during the meeting, the political situation in Iraq, and the mechanism of thework of the Iraqi parliament in enacting laws that serve the Iraqi people of all spectra. 

During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Dulaimi stressed the need to exchange experiences between the two councils in the field of drafting legal and constitutional legislation, as well as activating parliamentary committees between Iraq and Egypt. 

They also touched on the need for Egyptian companies to participate in the reconstruction of areas liberated from ISIS terrorist gangs, especially since Iraq has actually moved from the stage of fighting terrorism to the stage of reconstruction and construction and benefiting from Egyptian expertise, especially after Egypt achieved a great urban boom.

The two sides confirmed the upcoming visit of the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Mr. Muhammed Al-Halbousi to Cairo, and his desire to meet the Counselor Abdel Wahab Abdel Razzaq. 

For his part, the President of the Egyptian Senate, Counselor Abdel Razzaq, expressed his happiness for this visit, pointing to the willingness of the Egyptian side to support the relationship with Iraq, because of its importance for the interest of the two brotherly countries, stressing at the same time, Egypt’s firm position in support of the unity and sovereignty of Iraq and the need to achieve internal stability after the defeat of the terrorist gangs of ISIS.

The two sides also stressed during the meeting the need to activate what was agreed upon, through the work of the joint Iraqi-Egyptian higher committee, and the tripartite summit meetings between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan, because of their importance in strengthening the bonds of the bilateral relationship between Iraq and Egypt on the one hand, and between Iraq and the Arab environment on the other hand.
