Foreign Minister to his Canadian: counterpart: Iraq will not allow to be a battlefield, and we stress the need to respect Iraqi sovereignty, and stop violations

On the margins of his participation in the meeting of the international coalition to defeat the terrorist organization ISIS in Rome, Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein met on Monday, June 28, 2021, with the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Marc Garneau.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in Iraq, in addition to the bilateral relations, and means of cooperation in various fields.
The Minister stressed the importance of achieving partnership between Iraq and Canada, praising Canada’s efforts within the international coalition to combat ISIS, stressing that Iraq refuses to be a battlefield, calling for respecting the Iraqi sovereignty and put an end to violations.
The Minister touched on the Iraqi government’s preparations to carry out the elections on the specified date, according to criteria that restore people’s trust in the feasibility of political participation.
For his part, Mr. Garneau expressed his country’s support for Iraq’s efforts to achieve security and stability, stressing the continuation of cooperation between the two countries, work to calm down and prevent escalation.
