Foreign Minister Meets with His Lithuanian Counterpart in Luxembourg

On 21 June 2021, Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, H.E. Mr. Gabrielius Landsbergis, on the sidelines of the Foreign Affairs’ Council meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union.

During the meeting, aspects of joint cooperation between the two countries were discussed and both sides stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of immigration and migrants, and agreed to increase coordination between the relevant authorities in both countries in order to reach understandings that serve the common interests of both sides.

Mr. Landsbergis expressed his country’s readiness for cooperation and coordination in the military and security fields.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister welcomed the keenness of the Lithuanian minister to visit Iraq to follow up on the issues discussed during the meeting, as Mr. Hussein invited him to make it happen at the earliest convenience.
It is noteworthy that the meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union included the presence of (27) ministers, and the Iraqi issue was the main item on the agenda.
The participants valued the presence of the Iraqi Foreign Minister and his speech that sheds light on various aspects related to the relations between Iraq and the EU, as well as fields related to the Iraqi situation and the region.
