Iraqi Foreign Minister from Doha Calls Upon Neighboring Countries to Hold Dialogue in Baghdad to Solve All Issues of Concern to the Region

Foreign Minister. H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein met on 14 June 2021 with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Mr. Sameh Shoukry, on the sidelines of his visit to Doha to participate in the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers hosted by the State of Qatar.
They discussed ways to advance bilateral relations, and mutual interest in developing them in all fields.
The two sides discussed the latest developments in the region, and the need to make efforts to maintain security and stability, and work towards resolving problems and crises through dialogue and non-escalation approach for the benefit of the region, they also stressed the importance of strengthening consultation and discussion on a number of regional issues of interest to the two countries.
The minister stressed Iraq’s keenness to enhance consultation with Egypt, due to the effective role it plays in the region, pointing to the importance of holding the tripartite summit between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan, calling for holding a dialogue that brings together Iraq’s neighboring countries in Baghdad to bring views closer and strengthen the dialogue and negotiation mechanism to resolve all issues of interest to the region.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the State of Qatar, H.E. Mr. Omar Al-Barzanji, the acting head of the Arab Department, Dr Osama Ghanem, and consoler Dr. Ban Ali Kadhem.
