Foreign Minister Receives Copy of Credentials of New Russian Ambassador to Baghdad

On 25 May 2021, Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein received a copy of the credentials of H.E. Mr. Elbrus Kutrashef, the Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Baghdad.
The two sides held talks on ways to improve bilateral relations between the two countries, and the importance of enhancing cooperation opportunities at various levels to meet the aspirations of the two peoples.
The Minister affirmed the readiness of the ministry to provide all means that would enable him to fulfill his duties, wishing him success in his work, and conveyed his greetings to the Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Sergey Lavrov.
The Minister commended the high level of coordination between the two countries in the field of combating terrorism, and the work of Russian companies to build and develop the Iraqi infrastructure in oil and electricity sectors, in addition to scientific and technical cooperation.
For his part, the ambassador conveyed the greetings of the Russian Foreign Minister, stressing his country’s interest in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and willingness to cooperate in all fields, indicating his country’s keenness to coordinate and continuously consult with Iraq on various issues of common interest.
Pointing out the importance of holding meetings of the joint Iraqi-Russian committee during the coming months, in order to develop relations between the two countries and in various fields.
