During a Phone Call; Iraqi Foreign Minister, Discusses with His Iranian Counterpart Latest Attack on Iranian Consulate in Karbala

Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart, H.E. Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, in which they discussed recent developments in Iraq and the attack against the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Consulate General in Karbala by unknown persons.
Mr. Hussien expressed his condemnation of the incident considering it as completely rejected act according to the norms and international conventions. Moreover, he affirmed that it will not pass without accountability for those who committed it, and that the Iraqi competent authorities have their investigations underway.
H.E. emphasized the government’s keenness to ensure a stable security situation for all diplomatic missions working in Iraq. Stressing Baghdad’s adherence to strategic relations with Tehran, and its aspiration to strengthen bilateral relations by expanding the scope of cooperation to achieve common interests between the two countries to serve the two friendly peoples.
