Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets a Group of Media Members in Italy

Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein met in Rome with a group of Arab and foreign media professionals, in the presence of the Iraqi Ambassador to Italy, Mrs. Safia Al-Suhail.
During the meeting, the most important outcomes of His Excellency’s visit to Rome and the Vatican were reviewed, in additions to his meetings with His Holiness the Pope and officials in both Italy and the Vatican. He also indicated his appreciation of the historic visit of His Holiness to Iraq and followed up on its outcomes, and discussed interfaith dialogue and the encouragement of religious tourism to the historic city of Ur, moreover; he discussed issues of common interest, and bilateral relations between Iraq, the Vatican and Italy.

H.E. stressed the importance of the media’s role in conveying the true picture of Iraq, which is in a stable security situation, and this was clearly shown by the historic visit of His Holiness the Pope, who visited many Iraqi cities, especially after the liberated Iraqi cities and towns that were once seized by the terrorist ISIS groups which were militarily defeated.
During the meeting, the Minister touched on the latest political and economic developments in Iraq and the Iraqi government’s endeavor to overcome the financial difficulties that resulted from the global drop in oil prices, and the economic stagnation that most countries of the world suffer from due to the Corona pandemic, and the government’s moving towards strengthening the role of the private sector and increasing investments to support the Iraqi economy.

H.E. also answered the media’s questions that focused on internal and regional developments and Iraq’s external relations and its role in calming tensions in the region.
