The Ambassador of Republic of Iraq to Moscow Meets with Russian Deputy Minister of Transport
The Ambassador of Republic of Iraq to Moscow Mr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Hussaini met with the Russian Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr Alexander Yurchik in the Ministry of Transport building in the presence of a number of land, air and maritime transport officials in the ministry, to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of transport.
The two sides discussed future steps to sign the land transport agreement between the two countries. The Russian side expressed appreciation for the approval of the Iraqi Prime Minister on the draft agreement, stressing the geographical location of Iraq, which makes it a global pass for transportation.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in the field of air transport, and a project was launched to open direct lines between the two countries, especially for Russian air transport companies in addition to Iraqi air lines, and the Russian Deputy Minister of Transport expressed Russian Federation support for Iraq in lifting the ban on Iraqi air lines in Europe, and the readiness of his country to train Iraqi staff in the Russian Transport Academy, in addition to receiving Iraqi students who want to study in the academy.
On cooperation in the field of maritime transport, the Russian side expressed the desire of Russian companies to invest in the Fao port , and to participate in investment opportunities in various areas of transport in Iraqi cities, especially in the field of railways, and the construction of airports.
