Foreign Minister Meets with the President of International Committee of the Red Cross
Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mr. Peter Maurer, on the sidelines of the 43rd session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
The Minister praised the organization’s performance in Iraq for the humanitarian services it provided, expressing the importance of its support, and overcoming all that would interfere with its work.
Minister Alhakim reviewed the relevant Iraqi efforts to find the remains of missing Kuwaitis and called for the necessity of using modern technology in identifying mass graves, especially forensic medicine, to determine the identity of the victims found.
Minister Alhakim also called for strengthening areas of cooperation between government official agencies and the International Committee of the Red Cross by developing Iraqi capabilities in the area of information keeping, and the remains of victims.
On his part, Mr. Peter Maurer the President of the ICRC expressed the readiness of the Committee to provide the necessary technical assistance in the field of forensic medicine and mass graves.
