The Ambassador of Republic of Iraq in The Hague Meets with Members of Foreign Relations Committee in Dutch Parliament Building
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in the Netherlands, Dr. Hisham Al-Alawi met with members of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Dutch Parliament on Wednesday 5/2/2020 in the presence of several embassy employees.
At the beginning of the meeting the Ambassador thanked the Dutch side on behalf of the Iraqi government for the support provided to Iraq in the past years in a number of areas in which the Netherlands has extensive experience, including: training of security forces, logistic support in the war against Da’esh terrorists, support for plans to achieve stability in the liberated areas, supporting the displaced, diversifying sources of income by developing the agricultural sector, supporting entrepreneurship and youth projects of both sexes and higher education.
The meeting also discussed the regional developments in the region, its reflection on Iraq, the importance of continuing the dialogue to reduce tension that does not serve anyone , stressing the Iraqi government’s keenness to preserve the country’s sovereignty, and avoiding Iraq to become an arena for conflict.
The Dutch parliamentarians extended their thanks and appreciation to the Ambassador for the opportunity to meet and ideas that were raised and answering a large number of questions, and affirmed their country’s support for Iraq in its war against terrorism, and its willingness to expand cooperation in other fields to continue the process of building and reconstruction, confirming their sincere desire to see a stable and prosperous Iraq for all to enjoy equal opportunities.
