Iraq Chairs Emergency Meeting on Developments in Libya
Iraq chaired the emergency meeting of the League of Arab States at the delegate level to discuss developments in the situation in Libya. Dr. Ahmad Nayef Al-Dulaimi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq and its permanent representative to the League of Arab States gave the opening speech in which he focused on rejecting and condemning foreign interventions in the affairs of any of the Arab countries, and calling for the language of dialogue and peace to prevail over the language of arms and rivalry, stressing that the parties concerned in Libya to the national dialogue, and support the efforts of the Libyan parties in achieving peace and stability, as well as the efforts of the League of Arab States in this field in line with the aspirations of the Libyan people, adding: that the stability of each of the Arab countries is a basic block for the stability of the entire nation, which is a step towards realizing the hopes and aspirations of our peoples, affirming that every drop of blood falling in any Arab country is a great loss for the Arab nation.
The emergency meeting concluded with the adoption of a resolution that included (6) items that emphasize the unity and sovereignty of Libya, support for the political process, the full implementation of the Sukherat Agreement as the sole reference for the settlement in Libya, and an emphasis on preventing external interventions that facilitate the movement of foreign terrorist extremist fighters to Libya.
