The Ambassador of Republic of Iraq in Rome Meets with Italian Deputy Foreign Minister
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Rome, Mrs. Safia Al-Suhail, met Mrs. Marina Sereni, Deputy Minister of Italian Foreign Affairs, at the headquarters of the Italian Foreign Ministry.
Ambassador Al-Suhail congratulated the deputy Foreign Minister on the success of the Rome-Med conference, pointing to the active participation of Iraq in the conference sessions, and congratulated Italy on the assumption of the presidency of the G20 group, then reviewed the most important political and security developments in Iraq and the region.
During the meeting, ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries and advancement for strengthening them, especially in the economic and commercial fields were discussed and the holding of meetings of the Iraqi-Italian joint committee and conferences for the Iraqi and Italian public and private sectors.
The Ambassador also touched on the upcoming visit of Italian Foreign Minister Mr. Luigi Di Maio to Iraq at the beginning of next year and coordinating it, stressing Iraqi official’s interest in strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
On her part, Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Mrs. Sereni affirmed her country’s interest in developing bilateral relations with Iraq and Italy’s keenness on Iraq’s stability and development, confirming support for any initiatives and plans to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
