The Foreign Minister Meets with US President’s Envoy to Syria

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the US President’s envoy to Syria Mr. Joel Rayburn. In the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis. The Minister expressed the Iraqi government’s interest in ending the ongoing conflict in Syria, resolving the issue of the displaced, and creating a safe environment for the return of the displaced to their areas of residence.

Minister Fuad Hussein expressed his appreciation for all the peaceful efforts aimed at ending the suffering of the Syrian people. This came in a meeting between Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein and US President’s envoy to Syria Mr.  Joel Rayburn on the sidelines of the IISS Manama Dialogue Forum 2020.

The two sides discussed the role of regional and international players in the Syrian crisis and Minister Fuad Hussein emphasized that the continuation of fighting and battles in Syria affects negatively the security situation in neighboring countries therefore; the interest of Iraq and other neighboring countries requires an end to the Syrian crisis.
