The Foreign Minister Chairs Coordination Meeting of Iraqi Ministries Concerned with Iraqi-Russian Joint Committee

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein chaired the coordination meeting of representatives of the Iraqi ministries concerned with the Iraqi-Russian Joint Committee in the Ministry’s headquarters in the presence of the Ministry’s Senior Undersecretary, Mr. Abdul Karim Hashim Mustafa, Head of Europe Department Ambassador Abdul Karim Toama Mahdi Kaab and the Rapporteur of the Iraqi side in the Joint Committee, Director General of Economic Foreign Relations Department at the Ministry of Trade, Mr. Adel Khudair Abbas and representatives of the ministries of (Electricity, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Education, Industry, Culture and Transport)

On his part, Minister Fuad Hussein explained the importance of the visit he will make to Moscow for the period 25-26/11/2020, in response to the invitation extended to him by the Russian Foreign Minister Mr. Sergey Lavrov, stressing that the Ministry seeks to invest this visit to enhance cooperation with the Russian Federation in the economic, cultural and political fields to create a balance in international relations.

The Foreign Minister stated that it is very useful to hold periodic meetings for the Iraqi side to follow up on the recommendations of the previous minutes of the joint committee and update information on new areas of cooperation and the need to work to advance cooperation between Iraq and Russia in the economic fields, and to search for common solutions to overcome the challenges facing the economic and development between the two sides through activating the work of sectoral sub-committees within the joint committee and holding meetings with their counterparts from the Russian side in addition to the need of coordination and integration between the Iraqi ministries to define the investment and economic fields that Iraq needs.
