The Chargé d’affairs of Embassy of Republic of Iraq in Khartoum Meets with the Sudanese Foreign Minister

The Chargé d’affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Khartoum Mrs. Salma Kaddouri, met with the Sudanese Foreign Minister-designate, Dr. Omer Gamaruddeen Ismail in his office at the Foreign Ministry.

The meeting reviewed the strength of the historical relations between Baghdad and Khartoum, and the Iraqi government’s keenness to strengthen them in all fields in order to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

On her part, Mrs. Salma Kaddouri conveyed the congratulations and greetings of Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein to the Minister on the occasion of his assumption of his position as Foreign Minister of the Republic of Sudan, as well as congratulating the government and the people of Sudan for the signing of the peace agreement in Juba on 03/10/2020, and expressed her aspiration for security and stability to prevail in Sudan, stressing that its stability is the stability of the African continent and also congratulated the government and people of Sudan for the US decision to remove the name of Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, which is an essential and important step towards its return to the international community and laying the sound foundations for its exit from its major crises. The Coronavirus pandemic and the effects were discussed , and the appropriate procedures to provide material and logistical support to  combat the pandemic, as well as the importance of activating political, cultural memoranda of understanding between the two countries.

On his part, the Sudanese Foreign Minister conveyed the thanks and appreciation of the Sudanese government to the government and people of Iraq, for all his constructive initiatives towards the Sudanese people, and support for the Republic of Sudan in all international forums, and the Minister also expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the recent initiative on the airlift that was launched to provide the necessary aid to the affected Sudanese citizens from floods, the Minister wished security, stability and prosperity for Iraq and its brotherly people.
