Foreign Minister Meets with Secretary General of League of Arab States
Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States.
The two sides discussed the importance of strengthening joint Arab action and unifying positions regarding the challenges that the Arab countries are facing, Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed that Iraq faces numerous challenges, calling for concerted Arab efforts to overcome them, in addition to resolving the crises that Arab countries are suffering from.
Minister Fuad Hussein reviewed the efforts of the Iraqi government to face the challenge of Coronavirus and confirmed the importance of confronting the remnant pockets of terrorism, in addition to supporting Iraq in combating extremism and hate speech.
On his part, Mr. Aboul Gheit praised the role that Iraq plays in promoting joint Arab action and supporting the League of Arab States, appreciating Baghdad’s positions on several issues on the Arab arena, and affirmed the League’s support for the government in preserving the sovereignty of Iraq and its territorial integrity. They also discussed the regional situations of concern, expressing the League of Arab States position in rejecting all external interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries.
