The Deputy Head of International Organizations and Conferences Department Meets with Chargé d’affairs of Russian Federation Embassy in Baghdad

The Deputy Head of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Mr. Ali Hilal met with the Chargé d’affairs of the Russian Federal Embassy in Baghdad, Mr. Maxim Litvinov, and discussed the Russian draft resolutions that will be submitted to the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, and Iraq’s position on the initiatives and draft resolutions proposed in the six committees of the General Assembly during the 75th session.

The Russian side presented a detailed position on the legal status of the Russian citizen (Alexei Navalny), and explained the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry issued in this regard. The two sides also discussed recent US statements regarding the resumption of Security Council sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran, their position on it, as well as the stance of the European Union and member states of the Security Council in this regard.
