Acting Head of Arab Department Meets with Chargé d’affairs of Russian Embassy in Baghdad

The acting head of the Arab Department , Mr. Osama Al-Rifai met with Mr. Maxim Litvinov, Chargé d’affairs to the Russian Embassy in Baghdad.
The two sides discussed bilateral strategic relations between Baghdad and Moscow.
Mr. Al-Rifai indicated that the two countries have a strategic partnership, praising Russian Federation’s positions in support of Iraq in its war against Da’esh terrorist gangs.
They also discussed a number of regional issues of concern to the two countries, and Mr. Al-Rifai reiterated Iraq’s position calling for the return of Syria to its seat in the League of Arab States.
