The Chargé d’affairs in Geneva Participates in Non-Aligned Movement Meeting
The Chargé d’Affairs of the Iraqi mission at the United Nations Office in Geneva Mr. Abbas Kadhim Obaid participated in the virtual meeting of the group of Non-Aligned Movement countries with the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in combating terrorism, Ms. Fionnuala Ní , the meeting reviewed the mandate and the activities.
The Chargé d’Affairs expressed his support for the efforts of the Special Rapporteur, and his readiness to cooperate in light of the new mandate granted by the Human Rights Council, which was expanded to include the impact of terrorism on human rights.
The Chargé d’affaires stated that the issued reports take into account the objective criteria in diagnosing the level of danger and threat, the variation of capabilities, and resources in assessing commitments and pledges, and asked the Special Rapporteur to urge all countries to fully implement the General Assembly and Security Council resolutions related to combating terrorism with regard to stopping the infiltration of terrorist elements and arms smuggling, financial flows, and illegal trade, especially oil smuggling and antiquities.
