The Chargé d’affairs and Permanent Representative of Republic of Iraq to Geneva Meets Regional Directors for Operations in Middle East at International Committee of the Red Cross

The Chargé d’affairs and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to Geneva, Dr. Abbas Khadhim Obaid met via videoconference with Mr. Fabrizio Carboni, Regional Director, Near and Middle East at ICRC, and Mr. Nicholas Hawton, Advisor for the Near and Middle East, The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
During the meeting, they reviewed the relations between Iraq and the International Committee.

The Chargé d’affaires commended the efforts and assistance provided by the International Committee to Iraq, expressing his aspiration for the continuation of relations, and providing technical and humanitarian support to Iraq at this stage, including assistance in combating the Coronavirus pandemic and providing technical assistance in searching for the remains of missing persons in mass graves.

Mr. Fabrizio Carboni confirmed the committee’s readiness to continue providing assistance to Iraq, praising the spirit of cooperation between the committee’s offices in Iraq with the relevant Iraqi institutions.
