Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Affirms Baghdad’s Keenness to Develop Joint Cooperation with Kuwait
Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received his Kuwaiti counterpart, Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Muhammad Al-Sabah at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad.
The two Ministers discussed several issues related to bilateral relations as a result of the steady growth in these relations, Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed Baghdad’s keenness to develop joint cooperation with Kuwait, expressing his aspiration to continue work to advance the distinguished relations between the two countries and develop them at all levels.
Minister Fuad Hussein called for establishing a balance in relations at regional level, in a way that enhances the joint relations between the countries of the region.
The two sides discussed activating the outputs of the Kuwait Donors Conference, following up the works of the Iraqi-Kuwaiti joint committee, and preparations for holding its work at the earliest time in Baghdad to discuss outstanding bilateral issues.
The two sides also discussed efforts to contain the economic and health repercussions of coronavirus, and exchange experiences in this regard since this pandemic represents a common challenge on the level of the economy, the sharp decline in oil prices that followed in addition to its impact on Iraq, and electrical connection.
On his part Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Muhammad Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister called for the importance of concerted efforts between the two countries in facing the pandemic, and facing all challenges collectively.
The Minister conveyed a message from the Emir of the State of Kuwait in response to the message of the Prime Minister’s envoy on the financial crisis in Iraq.
The message includes that Kuwait stands with Iraq at all levels, including exchange of bilateral support between the two countries, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the issue of energy and electrical connectivity, as well as support for Iraq in international forums.
