Acting Head of Asia and Australia Department Meets the Japanese Chargé d’Affairs to Iraq

The acting Head of Asia and Australia Department, Mr. Haider Radhi Al-Shammarti met with the Japanese Chargé d’Affairs to Iraq, Mr. Shu Nakagawa

During the meeting, issues of common interest were discussed. The head of the department emphasized that the Iraqi government attributes great importance to the return of Japanese companies, and the resumption of their work on vital and important projects in Iraq, indicating the willingness of the relevant ministries to provide all forms of support in order to facilitate the work of these companies, including support preventive and health measures in light of the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, and facilitating the granting of entry visas.

On his part, the Japanese Chargé d’Affairs, affirmed that his country is aware of the great importance of the return of Japanese experts to work on important projects in the fields of water, electricity and oil and is constantly working to update the health situation in Iraq and urges these companies to return to Iraq as soon as possible as several of these companies expressed their intention to resume their work in Iraq during the first month of next year.
