The Republic of Iraq and League of Arab States Mission in Rome, in Cooperation with Italian University of La Sapienza Receives Arab Ambassadors at the University Museum, which Organized an Exhibition of Photographs of the works of MAIKI Archaeological Mission in Iraq

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Rome, in cooperation with the League of Arab States Mission , the Italian University of La Sapienza, and the Italian Archaeological Mission in Iraqi Kurdistan, MAIKI, organized an invitation to Ambassadors of Arab countries to the Italian Republic and the Vatican, on the occasion of the conclusion of the photo exhibition titled “Taj Narsa” at the University Museum which displayed a number of photographs, represented the activities of the Italian archaeological mission in Iraq MAIKI related to excavation, preservation of antiquities in the regions of Iraqi Kurdistan.

This cultural event coincided with the anniversary of the Iraqi Victory Day over Da’esh terrorist gangs on 10/12/2017, and the embassy expressed its happiness to participate on the sidelines of the exhibition on the grounds of the ancient Italian University Museum (La Sapienza) and considered it a message of appreciation and respect for the efforts of the Italian government and people, institutions, academic and cultural personalities for their assistance to Iraq in all fields in preserving and restoring Iraqi antiquities and returning smuggled artifacts.

On this occasion, the Iraqi ambassador to Italy, Mrs. Safia Talib Al-Suhail, sent a message in which she called for “supporting Iraq at all levels. Iraq needs support and assistance in its plans to reconstruct the liberated areas and support in its programs for the return of the displaced, it also needs all forms of support in the reconstruction and restoration of what has been destroyed in terms of monuments and archaeological sites for its cultural heritage, which is the property of all humanity.
