Foreign Minister: The government pays great importance to displaced citizens to create conditions for a safe return to their areas

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein delivered the speech of Iraq at the second ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism in which he affirmed Iraq’s commitment to the principles and values ​​of this group, and expressing readiness to advance joint cooperation projects at the international level to raise the voices of victims and empower them for a better future.

The Minister stated that Iraq is one of the countries that suffered the most from terrorism, especially with the large wave of displacement that occurred in the crisis of Da’esh terrorist organization in 2014.

Minister Fuad Hussein added that the government pays great importance to displaced citizens to create conditions for a safe return to their areas to mitigate the repercussions of terrorism on the victims.

Minister Fuad Hussein called on the international community and the countries of the region to make a greater effort to cooperate in the field of combating terrorism, noting that these efforts must work to empower the victims of terrorism for a better future.

Minister Fuad Hussein also expressed Iraq’s aspiration to participate in the First International Conference on Victims of Terrorism to be held in June 2021.
