The Ambassador of Republic of Iraq in Cairo Meets with Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptians Abroad

Mr. Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Cairo and Permanent representative to the Arab League met with Mrs. Nabila Makram Minister of state for Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs.

The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation frameworks in the field of migration and displacement between Iraq and Egypt in light of the intensive preparation and coordination to hold the joint Iraqi-Egyptian Joint Committee in the coming period, to be held in Baghdad between the Prime Ministers of the two countries.

Ambassador Al-Dulaimi emphasized that the tripartite presidential summit that was held recently in the Jordanian capital Amman represents a focal point for activating joint Arab cooperation and achieving the hopes and aspirations of Arab peoples, calling for a conference between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan in 2021 to discuss joint cooperation in the fields of immigrants and internally displaced persons.

On her part, Minister Nabila Makram reviewed Egypt’s efforts to return its citizens who are stranded abroad after suspending air traffic worldwide as a result of the precautionary measures taken to counter the spread of the new Coronavirus, and referred to the role of her ministry in supporting Egyptians abroad in all their spectrums, and the possibility of attracting people and investments to serve their country, inviting her counterpart, Minister Evan Faeq, to ​​visit Cairo, and getting closely acquainted with the Egyptian experience in dealing with immigration and immigration files, and discussing strategic cooperation between the two brotherly countries, in addition to increase areas of mutual cooperation, and exchange of experiences.

The Minister also expressed her government’s keenness to convene the joint committee as soon as possible, calling for the importance of the coming period witnessing strengthening and upgrading relations between the two countries.
