The Chargé d’affaires of Permanent Representative of Republic of Iraq to United Nations in Geneva Participates in Virtual Consultative Meeting of Group of Non-Aligned Movement States

The Chargé d’affairs to the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations in Geneva Mr. Abbas Kadhim Obaid participated in the virtual consultative meeting organized by the Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the United Nations in Geneva as Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement group of nations with the President-designate of the NPT Review Conference Ambassador Gustavo Zlovenin.
The meeting exchanged views on the conference that was postponed due to the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic to be held in January next year 2021.
The Chargé d’Affaires called for the importance of implementing the 1995 Middle East resolution on the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East, and the outcomes of the conference, the 2000 audit and the 2010 audit conference work plan, stressing that the discussion of the implementation of the Middle East resolution will be within the discussions of the treaty and not apart from them, explaining that there is a correlation between the extension of the treaty and the decision of the Middle East, noting the responsibility of the sponsoring states as the depository of the treaty.
The statement of the delegation of Iraq received the support of all the delegations participating in the meeting.
