The Embassy of Republic of Iraq in Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Makes Unremitting Efforts to Follow Up Affairs of Iraqi Community in Combatting the Coronavirus

The Iraqi Embassy in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has made several measures that are in line with the Jordanian government’s decisions in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Ambassador of Iraq to Amman Mr. Haider Al-Athari revealed that he directed the embassy employees, technical attachés, Iraqi airlines, and Al-Rafidain Bank to abide by the relevant Jordanian government decisions, including imposing a comprehensive curfew, explaining that they started an awareness campaign for the Iraqi community through the embassy sites and social media pages, stressing the necessity of respecting the laws of the Kingdom, and we asked the members of the community to communicate with the embassy for any urgent matter, and opened hotlines available the community to communicate with us.

The Ambassador noted that the embassy is making great efforts in following up the affairs of the Iraqi community who are infected with the Coronavirus, and they are 7 Iraqis who are currently in Prince Hamzah Hospital, stressing that all of these seven cases are in very good health condition, and in continuous improvement.

Among the efforts of the embassy is the campaign to donate food parcels to needy families in cooperation and coordination with the Iraqi Businessmen Council, to provide 1000 food parcels, and to provide the Business Council with a list of family names, and to coordinate with the Crisis Cell to obtain the basic approvals to distribute the parcels.

Ambassador Al-Athari added that we responded to the appeals of Iraqi students and residents in Karak and Irbid to help them because of the depletion of foodstuffs, and I contacted the officials in Irbid and Karak to express my concern, and asked them to help in delivering the basic materials and work is ongoing to communicate with the rest of the students and residents in other governorates.

The Ambassador added that there are exceptional efforts made by the embassy, ​​including coordination with the responsible authorities in Jordan to obtain the fundamental approvals to transport the bodies of five Iraqis who died in Jordan, and work to release Iraqis who were arrested for violating the curfew imposed in Jordan as well as obtaining approvals for Iraqis who want to return to Iraq by land, in addition to the rapid response to any emergency faced by the Iraqi community.
