The Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs and Bilateral Relations Mr. Abdul Karim Hashem Mustafa met with Ambassador of the Republic of China accompanied by a diplomatic and technical delegation,the two sides discussed bilateral relations, and ways to improve the prospects of cooperation between Baghdad and Beijing.

The Senior Undersecretary expressed the desire of Iraq to support the Iraqi-Chinese relations in order to achieve a strategic partnership in a manner that meets the aspirations of the two friendly peoples and achieves their common interests in progress, prosperity, and development.

Reflecting the unprecedented advanced prospects of cooperation between the two countries, the Chinese government has provided Iraq with the requirements for laboratory testing of Coronavirus by providing (1000) medical examination kits for this virus (RT-PCR), and has allocated 500,000 masks.
The Ministry on its part has begun coordination with the Ministerial Committee to Combat Coronavirus to deliver these materials to Baghdad.

The two sides also discussed benefiting from the experience that China has in the field of confronting and preventing this virus. It was agreed to receive a medical team from China in Iraq to provide support in this field, specialised in detecting and treating this virus, and ways to prevent it.
They also discussed the topic of Chinese workers in Iraq in providing service in the energy sectors, and the government’s measures to provide safety from transmitting this virus.
